You may be sitting there asking yourself “How can I achieve my dreams and goals?” and the reality is that if you don’t have a compelling answer, you may not be able to.

Toastmasters, if you work the programme, will help you become the best version of yourself.

 

Our modern world is fast paced and busy. At any gathering time and the lack of enough time is often the subject of discussion. How do we find the time to do everything we want to do?

In order to get the most out of the Toastmasters programme you will need to sacrifice time, time to attend meetings and time to prepare your assignments. You may find yourself asking if it is worth the time?

 

Do you consider yourself an entrepreneur or at the very least the entrepreneur of your life? To succeed you need to be a compelling communicator and an inspirational leader. To learn or to hone these skills, Toastmasters offers you the platform to do so.

 

But how do you fit Toastmasters into your schedule? You know you need to learn or hone these skills but where do you find the time.

 

The average Toastmasters meeting is two hours long. Ask yourself can you afford not to spend those two hours in pursuit of your dreams and your goals? Can you afford not to put the few hours of preparation that you need to present your speech or fulfill your role on the agenda? These hours will lead to learning and honing the skills you need to achieve your goals.

 

There are thousands of books written about time management and Toastmasters gives you a platform to put these techniques to use, to practice them in a safe environment where you will get immediate feedback. Wouldn’t you rather test out these techniques in an environment where you won’t get fired and your bonus won’t be in jeopardy?

 

Three techniques of Time Management that you can practice on the Toastmaster platform are:-

Know what your goals are and make sure you know how important they are to you, and engage in activities such as Toastmasters to support these goals. If you know what your goals are and how important they are to you it is easier to prioritise wisely.

 

If you have a task that you need to do such as prepare a speech, you could do this in bite size chunks. Rather than trying to find a couple of hours to sit down and write and prepare a speech, do it in 15min bites.

 

Eliminate distractions; you could do your preparation for your upcoming Toastmaster meeting or role instead of watching a movie. Many people today suffer from FOMO, fear of missing out, but ask yourself what are you missing out on by not taking the steps you need to take to make your dreams and goals a reality?

 

The other bonus is that you will have a team of people who want to see you succeed, who will help you to learn and hone your skills. So as Napoleon Hill says “Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice” If you want great achievement it will be born of your sacrifice. You can’t afford not to if you want to achieve your goals.
