Mentor/Mentee – Helder Jeque and Carla Zimba

I began my journey in Toastmasters two years ago and the most important thing for me has been my mentor. My mentor in Kula Toastmasters, Mozambique, is Helder Jeque. He is an experienced Toastmasters who is very passionate about growing people.

In me, he says he saw a potentially bright, confident and motivated lady, something I had not seen in myself because of my limitations in speaking fluent English. He encouraged me to visit other clubs in and out of Mozambique so as to improve my English. I am still not yet fluent in English but I have become very confident in delivering speeches in any club around the globe.

Mentorship is important because you are given a unique leveraging opportunity to learn from someone else’s mistakes, knowledge and experience.
