Greenside Toastmasters’ First meeting
Greenside Toastmasters had our first meeting in Greenside Johannesburg last night, 17 November, 2010.
District Governor Rob Douglas DTM called us to order. Lebogang Sebogodi acted as President for the night. Area C2 Governor Carike Greffrath was Toastmaster. Word of the day was Beginning, which we got from Ambrose Sampson.
The club’s first prepared speech was by Ingo Viedge who delivered his Icebreaker CC1 in 6’10″ (six minutes, 10 seconds.) “I’m glad it’s over,” he said, at the recess. Prudence Mathebula was the timekeeper.
Other speakers included Sandy Lavis who delivered a speech from the Humorously Speaking manual; David Preece who gave an orientation speech about Toastmasters; and Heather Walker, who spoke about being an adventurer.
