Lawrence Anthony

Lawrence Anthony, owner and Head of Conservation on his Thula Thula Game Reserve situated in Northern Kwazulu Natal has an impressive list of achievements and international awards to his name.

Lawrence is recognised around the world as a Conservationist, specialising in the rehabilitation of “problem” or rogue elephants, but his love of wildlife extends way beyond our shores.  In 2007 sometime after his historic and courageous rescue of the animals in Baghdad Zoo he submitted the Wildlife Warzones Draft resolution to the United Nations in New York.   Lawrence’s humanitarian work is as widely recognised as his wildlife work and his promotion of the meaningful involvement of rural communities in conservation work on their own land is legendary.

Lawerence Anthony, a gifted story-teller is in high demand as a speaker  all over the world and has been invited to give key note addresses in such venues as the British Museum of Natural History, The Explorer’s Club of New York and the 2009 International inter-Parliamentary Conference in the USA, just to name a few.

His books, Babylon’s Ark and The Elephant Whisperer have been translated into at several other languages including Japanese and French.  Babylon’s Ark won critical acclaim from the American Library Association and made Editor’s Choice in 2008. Beacon Pictures in Los Angeles have commissioned a major Hollywood production of this book.

“The Last Rhinos”, his latest offering is being launched at the beginning of May and will be available for purchase at Armagedcon.

Lawrence is married to Francoise, a French Chef and has two sons and two grandsons.
