Did it work, was it a success?

The overwhelming response is YES!

  • I think everything was well planned.
  • Excellent conference!
  • Good spirit, laughter and fun.
  • On the whole very well organised.
  • Lovely, it was awesome!!!
  • Erich Viedge was a phenomenal day chairman.
  • It was one of the best conferences I have attended.
  • Thank you so much, I am glad I came.
  • A brilliant conference.

Putting something of this size together, purely with volunteers all of whom have day jobs, is not easy. But I don’t intend to dwell on that; Frances and her committee have received their accolades. But the committee would like to applaud those who attended the conference and contributed with your positive, fun-filled attitude, by getting involved in the spirit of the event. Thank you so much – it was your response that made it so worthwhile for the organising committee.

Billy Selekane was a fine guest speaker, who took an example of black South African history and made us realise that with planning, organising, leadership and control one can defeat superior forces (or negative thoughts). A point to remember as we take District 74 to greater membership heights.

Mike Perry gave us an idea of how recession works, how people typically want to advance themselves during such troubled times, and the time frame we have to prepare ourselves for the next upward cycle. The workshops dealing with how we can grow District 74 were valuable.

Thank goodness I wasn’t judging the humorous contest. The standard was high across the board and to say the audience was entertained would be an understatement of note. The winner, Ben Brown (Bedfordview Toastmasters, Division B), did a superb job describing his BMW – complete with a myriad of sound effects.

I will comment on other positive thoughts, and some of the negative ones, over the next three or four weeks. But, if you enjoyed this conference, register now for Maxicon (Laduma), tell your Toastmaster colleagues to register and let’s continue the fun.
